What is the best way to start my own website…buy domain or free web hosting?

I want to start my own website. I need something simple and easy to manage. I don’t have any experience in web designing so I might need a web designing program too. I want to be able to add members to the site… and eventually hope to make some income from the site. I have heard of free web hosting sites and ones that charge a monthly fee like “go daddy”. Are free web hosting sites reliable? I have all the ideas just need to know how to get started.
thanks :)
So which one would u say is the best one to buy from? And what program to develop it?

Chosen Answer:

Generally no, they are not reliable. And they are usually lacking features that you need. And customer service is usually terrible, but what can you expect? It’s free. If you seriously think you can make income, I would just fork over the 5 or 10 bucks a month.

One of the most popular web hosting providers is iPage and their services are acclaimed globally. They are well known for their record uptime and also the pricing. For such excellent and amazing services, they are by far the most economical website hosting provider. They have a very easy to use website builder, marketing voucher for leading advertising networks, free domain name and many more. They provide a life time domain name for free which is one of their key offers. http://www.webhostingbreak.com/ipage-coupon/

http://www.webhostingpad.com/5494.html offers free wordpress auto install. They have plans that start as low as $1.99 a month and offer a 30 day money back guarantee!! They have web designing programs that are easy to use and look very professional.

    24/7 security server monitoring
    Advanced Firewall
    OS Commerce Shopping Cart
    Password Protected Directories
    Open PGP/GPG Encryption

Godaddy is way to expensive. Do not use. Also free web hosting comes at a very expensive price in the form of popup ads that dramatically affect your web site. Free is not free at all.

Free web hosting is not the way to go for several reasons:

Getting high rankings on search engines and the adds they often place on your site. You can get good hosting from these guys http://bit.ly/9u2HPs and use their website builder. You can also buy your domain name from them as well. Hosting is as little as $8.

I am going to be really blunt with you because I am totally unbiased on the subject of free web hosting vs. paid web hosting. I have been creating websites for a little over 10 — I’m very young though — and my experiences can tell you a lot.

Most free web hosts; no they aren’t reliable, sites like webs.com, angelfire.com, or tripod.com; the ones that put advertisement on your site for their own revenue no they aren’t reliable. Although sites like Yola and a few others are really good tools to use and are very robust; the site is never really yours because it has their branding and you are still making money for them. But there are some free hosts; actually a select few that are like hosting with a PAID web host; of course you are going to have restrictions but most restrictions only bother experienced webmasters like myself that would need a lot of different elements to run our sites.

A lot of people think if you are starting off with a free web host then you are starting off on the wrong foot. That is completely untrue and biased towards paid hosting compared to free hosting, if you want to start off with paid hosting that is on you but only if you have the funding for the domain fees and monthly hosting fees. With free hosting if you have yet to get the funding that you need it is perfect to start off no cost and then move up to low-cost and then all out expenses if you feel that need.

Take it from me that starting out a site on a free host is nothing to be ashamed of because it’s especially good if you are in school and have a lot of expenses other than hosting. When I started I couldn’t get any funding — keep in mind that I am 21 and have been doing this for a little over 10 years, you do the math — I had no good and couldn’t get one and then my mom didn’t think it was that important for my sites to be professional at such a young age so I turned to free hosting and have been working with free hosts for a fairly long time now.

If you want to go with free web hosting then you should know that most of them don’t register domains they have subdomains — such as http://yoursite.yourhost.com or http://yourhost.com/users/yoursite — but let you host a domain that you have registered elsewhere to be used on their servers. For a site like I have just talked about that is very reliable and will host a domain that you have registered elsewhere then check out this site –> http://myadtv.co.cc/224273 and THEY HAVE NO ADS!!

Now, I will say that although I am an advocate for free hosting because in my opinion it is just as good as the paid thing because you can do most of the same things with free that you can with paid. Paid hosting is the most accepted way to get noticed on the internet, some say that sites don’t get indexed on paid hosts but this is a myth because they really do get indexed you just have to have traffic to your site.and getting traffic is easy if you know how to use SEO and promotion tactics but I digress.

Paid hosting is more accepted because most feel that if you put money into your site then that is why your site should get respect but I think that if you put your time and energy into a site it shouldn’t matter. Anyway, paid hosting doesn’t have sub-domains which is a plus but you must either have a registered domain somewhere else or buy a domain from the webhost, paid hosting is a one stop shop I must say when it comes to getting your domain and hosting in one place.

For a paid hosting solution like what I have talked about up there I suggest to you to check out this site –> http://texasdatahost.co.cc

With TexasDataHost, they’re really cheap and with any of their hosting plans you start off with the first year FREE for the domain that you register; you must go with their hosting though; they won’t pay for a domain and you don’t host with them. You won’t regret it if you decide to host with them either so check them out.

Oh and to address you on the issue of resource to make your site then I’ll let you know that mostly all web hosts whether free or paid have some kind of site builder where you don’t need any tenchnical knowledge at all to make your site. Then there are free programs to help you as well like NVU and SVRsoft First Page.

    I hope this helps some

P.s It is possible to make an income with free web hosting you just have to provide some advertising space for google adsense or something like that.

This is what I suggest you do:

    1) Get a domain name – if you are serious about having your own website, this is the absolute first step you have to do. Get one from this comparison site: http://domainnamesregistration.org

    2) Get a paid hosting account – but do not pay anything until you really really like it. Try Hostgator. To learn host to get hostgator for free, go to http://cheapdomainhost.org/hostgator

    3) Wait for the welcome email and get started. Get familiar with the cPanel. You can install many free applications such as forums, blogs, content management systems and much more.

    Have fun
